STUDY AREA | STUDIEOMRÅDE

The research work is focusing on those municipalities that have had the largest percentage decrease in population during the period 2000-2009. All the municipalities which are represented are located along the coast, where fishing industry has played an important role. The examinations will be done during a study trip, visiting all nine municipalities. The research is focusing on three different aspects which are related to the negative population trend:

Physical mapping - examination of how the negative population trend influences the use of buildings, and the ability to transform vacant buildings into new functions.

Social mapping -  examination of how different population groups relates to the phenomenon and how it is affecting different actors in the local community. The locals will become an important source of knowledge and discussion during the studytrip.

Countermeasures - examination of which actors and measures are used to encounter the phenomenon at the local level.

Studiet baserer seg på de ni kommunene som har hatt størst prosentvis befolkningsnedgang i perioden 2000-2009. Samtlige av dem er kystkommuner hvor fiskeri har spilt en viktig rolle. Undersøkelsene vil bli gjennomført under en studietur som besøker samtlige av de ni kommunene. Det vil bli tilbrakt rundt en uke i hver kommune. Studiet vil fokusere på tre ulike aspekter av fraflyttingsproblematikken:

Fysisk kartlegging - undersøkelse i hvordan befolkningsnedgangen påvirker bruken av bebyggelse, og hvor stor evnen er til å endre bruksområde av bebyggelse som står ubrukt.

Sosial kartlegging - undersøkelse i hvordan ulike befolkningsgrupper forholder seg til problematikken og hvordan det påvirker ulike aktører i lokalsamfunnene. Målet er å bruke lokalbefolkningen aktivt som kilde for informasjon og diskusjon.

Mottiltak – undersøkelse av hvordan man på lokalt nivå arbeider med problematikken. Kartlegging av hvilke tiltak og aktører er gjeldene i denne prosessen.
